The U16 division 1 squad got their season off to a great start with a convincing win away in Clonakilty.

Robyn Healy got the first in the opening quarter after a great burst down the right.

In the second quarter goals from Katie O’Herlihy, from play, and Maggie Murphy and Hannah O’Donovan from short corners put CI in control.

Four more quality goals followed in the third quarter. Hannah O’Donovan scored two tomahawks from the edge of the area. Anna Martin finished a well executed penalty corner. The pick of the bunch was a Maggie Murphy strike into the top left from the edge of the D.

Cliona O'Mahony in goal was alert and brave to save smother a Clon break away in the fourth quarter to preserve her clean sheet.

Well done, girls and coaches!
